Baby Grace - Day 1
Grace was so alert the first day! She spent a lot of her time awake and looking around at everything.

We were moved from the 8th floor (labor and delivery) down to the 7th floor (maternity ward recovery) about 3 hours after Grace was born. Each recovery room has two beds. We were thankful that we didn't have to share a room with anyone, which meant that Eric could sleep overnight at the hospital with us and have his own bed.
When we got down to our recovery room, we all took a nice 1.5 hr nap! It felt great because Eric and (especially) I did not get a lot of sleep the previous night with everything happening with the labor. Notice why I didn't post any pictures of me immediately after delivery?! I was exhausted and boy, did it show!
We tried breastfeeding every couple of hours, but did not have much luck with Grace latching on. According to the nurses I have "flat" boobies, which I actually thought I might have from reading my breast-feeding book. I wasn't so concerned at this for the first day though, since apparently many newborns do not do much eating anyway during that time(they normally sleep a lot instead).
Baby Grace - Day 2
We got visits from Grandma and Grandpa Graham (my parents) and Auntie Kate (my sister), Grandma and Grandpa Aaserud (Eric's dad and step-mom), and Grandma Bailey, Great-Grandma Nickerson (Eric's mom and Grandma), Auntie Emily and Uncle Brandon (Eric's brother and sister).
Since Grace wasn't doing too hot with the whole breast-feeding thing, I started pumping. I didn't really WANT to, but she seemed to take well to the bottle well enough.

Our good friends Chance and Beth also stopped by and brought us dinner! The pizza was soooo much better than hospital food!
Baby Grace - Day 3
We got to go home on Day 3! Eric and I were especially happy about that because we were not getting much sleep at the hospital. In fact, by the end, my patience was officially at 0%, and I may or may not have gotten short with the nurses. It seems like every time I finished pumping and fed the baby and finally crawled myself back into bed, a nurse would come in to take my blood pressure or check vitals etc. Nope, nothing has changed much since you last checked on me three hours ago! Needless to say, I pushed hard to get out of there, and by early afternoon we were packed up and heading out.
Grace looked especially cute in her custom handmade hat that was knitted by my friend Claire. I bought her a matching dark blue onesie from Target with eyelet trim to match it, and we covered her up in swaddling blankets that were given to us by Eric's Aunt Connie.
That night our friends Courtney and Dave came to visit and brought over Grace's future boyfriend, Tristyn, who was born in November. It was a nice ending to our day :)
