June 6th & 7th, 2014

Friday
We tried out our Moby baby carrier!  Grace didn't seem too thrilled with it…BUT, I think that it's because after being in it for about 5 minutes, she pooped.  We will try it again sometime soon…and hopefully this time she isn't gassy :)

The rest of Friday was pretty uneventful…I received my new breast pump through our health insurance.  Long story short, I am not super impressed with it.  Not only does it have a million parts to clean, but it doesn't seem to be as effective as the cheap one that I picked up at Target on the way home from the hospital.  *sigh*  Grace still isn't latching, although we try it everyday.  We're going to keep trying with it, but it's super frustrating.  I feel like I'm going to be destined to be an exclusive pumper forever--aka one who pumps milk for the baby to feed via bottle, rather than being able to feed them directly from the source.  It just gets exhausting cleaning pump parts and bottles, and listening to her cry when she gets hungry because I need to pump first before I can feed her.  The GOOD part about all this is that supply isn't an issue…I have plenty of milk for her, so I know that she's not going hungry.  That makes me feel good.    Plus it means that Eric can help feed her, which is nice.  He loves being woken up at 2AM to help with feedings :)

Saturday
On Saturday Grace had her newborn pictures done.  She had the hardest time falling asleep for them!  We tried feeding her to get her to sleep…which made her poop, pee, and spit up, all within a half hour time span.  She did eventually fall asleep for us, which was good!  We'll need to wait a couple of weeks before we see the final results, but here is the place that we took her to:  http://photographybydominique.zenfolio.com

She also met her honorary Uncle Ray, which is one of Eric's best friends from high school.  Please note the miter saw on the far right hand side of the picture…clearly more baby proofing is needed in this house before she becomes mobile!

  1. Hi Sara! Congratulations on baby Grace. She is absolutely beautiful. :) Great idea to have a blog... you will forget stuff that you think as it's happening "I'll never forget this moment!" Sorry to hear your insurance pump isn't the greatest. My insurance pump is nothing glamorous, but it does work pretty well. I'm back to pumping once a day so Evan can have milk in his oatmeal. Enjoy the time with little Grace. Welcome to motherhood!
