June 9th, 2014 - Rough Day

On Monday Eric left for Tennessee.  He's taking some practical tests to become a master certified VW technician.  He went down for training about 3 weeks before Grace was born, so we knew that he had to go back down for the tests afterwards.  It still doesn't make it any easier!

Eric got up at 3:30 AM for his 6 AM flight.  I thought that there was a chance that Grace might sleep through it all, but she woke up and would NOT go back to sleep.  Then she kept ordering room service…every 2 hours.  I got about 3.5 hours of sleep that night…rough!

Taken at approximately 7AM…still awake!
Finally, she fell asleep at 10 AM, which left me both tired and hungry.  I decided that sleep was more important this time, and gladly took my 1.5 hr nap!

Grace decided that she was going to be clingy for a good chunk of the day, which meant that we did a lot of snuggling, and I finished watching one of my new-found TV shows, "Call the Midwife", which about (can you guess?!), midwives in 1950's England.  I think that Grace was bored with it!

  1. Just give in to the snuggles. Forget about "to-do" lists and just snuggle, snuggle, snuggle. I used to feel like I wasn't getting anything accomplished when Andrew asked me (after complaining that I felt like I didn't do anything all day):

    "Is Evan happy?" {Yes, he snuggled and slept on me all day!}
    "Did you feed him?" {Yes, even though pumping and feeding was stressful since Evan would panic and scream for the 20 minutes I was pumping.}
    "Then that's all that matters."

    You and Grace are still getting used to each other. You'll fall into a routine before you even know it! :)

    1. Ahhh, listening to them cry while you pump is the worst! Her personality is definitely starting to come through though. She can be such a demanding little thing!
